What is proofreading?
It’s that final read-through before publication, to make sure all the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed. It is not developmental editing, nor is it line or copyediting. It is simply making sure the piece is published with as few spelling and grammar errors as possible.
I proofread non-fiction articles and fiction1 of all lengths (though my rates vary…please read on for that.) I’ve had several years’ experience in proofreading, mostly on fantasy fiction novels. I work with Word or Google Drive documents, with track changes on so you can see what I changed.
My Rates
Short non-fiction pieces (under 2,000 words): $15
Long/multi-part non-fiction pieces: $20 (per part)
Micro/flash fiction (1,500 words and under): $5
Short stories (2,000-7,000): $10
Novellas/novels/serials* (10,000 words and up to Brandon Sanderson doorstoppers): message for rates.
*I will also read serials part by part, rather than the entire manuscript all at once. My rate for doing so would be $15/part regardless of length.
(I am also open to trades for services…if you have a skill that you think I might be interested in—I’m currently and especially looking for artists who might be interested in trading sketches for proofreading—then shoot me a message!)

As stated, I have previously worked as a proofreader for fantasy novels, but I will work on just about any genre you need! (Exceptions to this are romance novels/erotica and heavily historical pieces)
